About Me
I'm Carlos Franco, an Electrical Engineer specializing in power electronics and control systems, currently pursuing a Master's in Electrical Engineering at CU Boulder (2025).
My background begins with my Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering (2016–2021), where I focused on power converters and control design. I applied optimization algorithms, including Genetic Algorithms, to improve converter design and tune controllers. This work combined my love for mathematics—from differential equations to linear algebra—with practical engineering applications.
Alongside my studies, I gained hands-on experience with microcontrollers, serving as a student monitor and teaching Arduino courses to high school and graduate students. This experience strengthened both my technical expertise and my ability to communicate mathematical and engineering concepts clearly.
Outside of coursework, I worked on projects ranging from physics simulations to real-time control models, including an implementation of the game Nine Men’s Morris and a water tank control system simulation. These projects deepened my understanding of algorithms, complexity analysis, and system modeling—essential mathematical foundations for modern power electronics.
I enjoy keeping my mind open to new concepts and tools. Right now, I am expanding my expertise in software frameworks that complement engineering research, while keeping my primary focus on converter design, optimization, and control. My long-term goal is to contribute to advancements in renewable energy systems and efficient power conversion technologies, where mathematics, computation, and engineering come together to solve real-world challenges.
